Joel Radio presents Comedy Night Live: March 2014
Joel returns to host O’Mara’s Comedy Night for March and the results are spectacular! Joel himself starts out the night with all new material, including riffing on the Gweynth Paltrow/Chris Martin divorce, the worst things on the internet, and why Kermit The Frog is not an asshole. It’s a night of strong premises from Joel, but a joke is not a premise alone, and the audience responds in kind. Writing jokes is hard! Still, the raucous crowd enjoys a great night of performances, including John Tenney recounting his bus driving days and reading out of the newspaper, Jeff Scheen returns from Chicago to do a wickedly funny set, Gary Sylvester tells us why it sucks getting old, and the always-funny Jeff Horste gets berated by the host for missing his opening spot for the most hilarious of reasons. Never number two, when you’re number one, OK? Also, Ray Topper is so funny you will want to have a stroke and “The Most Autistic Man in Showbiz” Andrew Ackner keeps the handicapped humor coming with a decidedly un-PC set that is a big hit with O’Mara’s crowd. Also, strong sets from Wesley Ward, Loyd Digg, Marty Smith, Carl Johnson, and Tanner Oliver make for an incredible night of comedy that is probably not safe for work, school, church or any place with a good sense of what is right and wrong.

Thought it would be fun to chime in again with a set by set show review , much love to all who participated!
Joel- Another solid opening set from Joel. Did get a little quiet in the latter half.I liked the lesbian breakup jokes even though the crowd didn’t.7/10 Best Bit- Gwyneth/Coldplay stuff
Jeff-Too much time talking about taking dumps. Felt greasy to listen to. He seemed comfortable on stage at least. Laughed a bit.5/10 Best Bit- Scooby Doo snitches
Wesley-Had me chuckling quite a bit. Liked his voice and delivery. Not many slow spots, good stuff.8/10 Best Bit-Drunk Taco Bell visits
Lloyd – Just lost me with all the gutter porn talk. If you’re gonna work that blue, better be a lot funnier. 2/10
Best Bit-Shredder reference I guess
Jeff Scheen- Didn’t quite connect with me for some reason. Noticed the crowd was into it so maybe his facial expressions helped. 4/10 Best Bit- Doll rant
John-Started slowly with the shameless plugs, but enjoyed the rest of the set quite a bit. 7/10 Best Bit- Red Dwarf parade
Marty-Great to see him return for a second show. Not quite as strong as his last set, still laughed a lot. 7/10 Best Bit- Erotic Canadian content
Ray- Joel you’re right, Ray does have a very funny and unique delivery style. I laughed hard at a lot of his material even though the crowd didn’t react that loudly.
Ran out of steam obviously, but still really enjoyed a lot of it.8/10 Best Bit- Wife Hate/Family stuff
Gary- Liked his voice, felt the set started a little slow, but he really came on strong at the end.7/10 Best Bit- Going to pasture below the waist
Andrew-Enjoyed his unique takes and material. Props for the Biltmore Garage reference.Spaced out at the end, otherwise solid. 6/10 Best Bit- Autistic dick size
Carl- Chuckled at a lot of the couple humor. Few slow spots, but I did laugh. 6/10 Best Bit-Third wheel stuff
Tanner- Energy may have been lacking in the room at this point, but I just didn’t feel most of his material.I actually howled at the dude in the crowd who heckled “I’ll never wash that dick again” 4/10 Best Bit- Pothead job fair
Awesome second show, thanks to everyone who participated for all the laughs!
