Veteran comedian Bill Hildebrandt joins Joel as a comedy legend as passed – Kip Addotta has died at age 75. OK, who the fuck is Kip Addotta? That’s an understandable question, but among other things, he was Bill’s connection to playing in Las Vegas, he recorded a bunch of popular comedy songs, released albums and was a frequent talk show guest in the 1970s. Bill shares his memories of Kip, his act, and why Vegas isn’t the same as it used to be. Also, Joel reviews Impractical Jokers live, and Gilbert Gottfried gets his gift at the Gathering of the Juggalos. Plus, comedy at a movie theater? Find out where it’s happening, and it’s probably a good thing as the movies suck right now. Find out who didn’t make it to the end of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood! He missed a good ending, anyway.

Not that the hosts object to what they’ve done on moral grounds – Joel just thinks it hurts the show sometimes. Hear what the famous comics had to say, Joel and Corey share the jokes they’ve dropped over the years, and why they think the PC culture of today makes so many subjects taboo. Also, gives a brief Juggalo Gathering report including the mainstream movie featuring ICP and the surprise star, Clownvis Presley. Plus, Every Day is one of the worst movies ever says Joel, the new Mission Impossible is more of the same, Corey’s “woke” movie minute, and Joel says Sharp Objects is must-see TV and HBO’s Succession is a unwatchable heap that all the cool kids like.

On this episode, Joel recaps another Gathering of the Juggalos, including him finally getting some good press for a change. The big takeaway is probably the crime, or lack thereof, at the 2017 festival site in Oklahoma City. Joel details the eight people arrested and what they got pinched for, and compares it to recent arrests at concerts and festivals around the world. It’s an eye-opening look at what is a feared and misunderstood event and why the good people of Oklahoma couldn’t separate the truth from the hype. Joel will also tell you the worst state to drive in, how to make peace with a not-so-kind-in-the-past reporter, and why Colorado is the new Florida. Also, the movie called Detroit came out this past week and it’s not very good. Hear where the filmmakers went wrong and find out why the Detroit riots of 1967 is a story that deserved better. Joel Radio #176: The Good Book

Last year Joel interviewed author Steve Miller and it was the most popular show in the podcast’s history. Now, Steve is back with the release of his new book, Juggalo: Insane Clown Posse and The World They Made, a thoroughly researched history of the band, its fans and the misconceptions the world has about them. Steve ‘s book skewers the FBI report that labeled Juggalos as gang, talking to the the lawyers on both sides and the young people who were harassed and punished as a result of their fandom. Joel discusses his own experiences in working for ICP, why the media usually gets Juggalos wrong, and why this book is one of the few journalistic efforts that gets it right. Joel however is somewhat miffed about his pretentious photo credit, a goof in an email that made it to print. Also, find out why Faygo went on record with Steve, the real tax dollar costs of the government’s Juggalo investigations, and get a journalist’s description of the Joel Radio studio – it’s not pretty.
