Joel Radio #67: As Seen on CompuServe
Joel and Corey go back-to-back weeks for the first time in quite a while. And for no good reason either, as the guys sample the latest movie reviews on Rotten Tomatoes. While Corey is listed over there, what’s more interesting is the critics that don’t get with the critical mass, and the one guy who publishes his reviews on CompuServe. That’s right, CompuServe. If you can’t remember 1995, then fire up the Compuserve homepage, and take a trip back to the Clinton administration. Also, Joel is up sick and rediscovers the genius of D.C. Cab, and its star Charlie Barnett. That’s another time traveling trip – right back to 1983! Gary Busey! Bill Maher! Mr. T! Paul Rodriguez! Marsha Warfield! Irene Cara! Whitman Mayo! Awesome! Plus, The Change-Up makes a tired premise more tired, Rise of the Planet of the Apes sinks, Cowboys and Aliens coasts, and Joel will take Christina Applegate’s leftovers.

Charlie Barnett does his thing in Washington Square Park. Very funny. Dated, but funny.

Joel Radio #222: The Green Room Story
about 6 years ago - No comments
This podcast is known for going off on tangents and taking forever to get to the point, but when comedian Tom McCarthy sat in with Joel and Corey for this week’s show, he had no idea what he was in for. Tom has been a staple of the Detroit comedy scene for fifteen years or…
Joel Radio #194: To Mother
about 7 years ago - No comments
Corey Hall is back discussing what happened to Amy Schumer’s career, celebrating recent TV cancellations, and eating more stunt-flavored Oreo cookies. Find out a few good things to stream – and one awful thing – as Joel checks out I Love Dick on Amazon, Tower on Netflix and Handsome: a Netflix Murder Mystery. I Love…
Joel Radio #183: Return of the Beast
about 7 years ago - 2 comments
After nine years away, Joel welcomes back Mac Kelly, aka TV horror host Wolfman Mac, to the show. Mac was just beginning his climb to national fame when he last appeared and now he’s looking for his next move. Hear about how his show evolved to get national clearances, the financial challenges of doing a…
Joel Radio #175: Call Anybody Else – A Ghostbusters Review
about 8 years ago - No comments
While many maligned the making of a new Ghostbusters movie with an all-female cast, Joel Radio was optimistic. The optimism ended today, but not with a roar, instead in a dead silent movie theater on the opening night of the film. Joel is joined in this review by real-life ghostbuster, John Tenney, who was intrigued…
Joel Radio #174: Made In America

This show is a bit of a mess, but you might win free concert tickets! Joel Radio has officially become morning radio now, but Joel was gifted free concert tickets via a Ticketmaster class action lawsuit and none of the free shows are anywhere near his home. Listen to this ninety minutes of ridiculousness and…
Joel Radio #172: Keep The Mask On
about 8 years ago - No comments
After the fight on show #171, Corey Hall returns to discuss a radically changing media landscape including the world’s greatest comedian – Chewbacca mask wearing mom, Candace Payne. That she joined late night host James Corden for a bit, really irked Corey though, as the chubby comic was the first media member to get his…
Joel Radio #165: The Trial of Amy Schumer
about 8 years ago - No comments
The topic of joke thievery has been covered extensively on this show. Joel even made peace with Carlos Mencia back on show #159. So when Amy Schumer, comedy’s newest superstar, was accused of joke thieving this week Joel decided to put together a blue ribbon panel to investigate. Due to unforeseen circumstances, that panel ended up…
Joel Radio #150: The New Comedy Boom or Bust
about 9 years ago - No comments
Is comedy having a new boom? According to a recent article, comedy’s future will be performed in the back of a comic book store, to other comedians, and without punch lines – hooray! Actually, Joel is pretty troubled by the recent alt-comedy scene, feeling that so much of it’s charming qualities will fail to transfer…
Joel Radio #145: Movie Mania 2015
about 9 years ago - No comments
It’s time for the annual review of the best and worst movies of last year. Joel saw all the Oscar-nominated films (except the ones that nobody can see), and did his very best to put together his list. Corey also saw a ton of movies, but his more cavalier approach led to a major oversight…
Joel Radio #144: The State of TV 2015
about 9 years ago - No comments
It’s the Joel Radio annual look at all things television with Joel Fragomeni and Corey Hall. Rather than a “Best” and “Worst” list the guys decide to do an all-encompassing look at what everyone’s watching right now and in the past year. This includes the new season of Girls on HBO, the new Duplass brothers…

Some notes from the show:
– Charlie Barnett actually died of AIDS, not an OD, though dirty needles were blamed for his infection
– I saw similar and very comics in that very fountain in Washington Square Park. It was literally my front yard when I was at NYU.
– The new website’s comment system requires me to approve new comments, unless you’ve had a previously approved comment on the site. Therefore, if you post now, you’ll be able to get future comments approved automatically – like next week when I’m at the Gathering without internet access
– Feel free to also comment on any movie or TV show we reviewed on the show. It’s nice to know the audience likes and dislikes, too. D.C. Cab anyone?

Keep the Jake jokes coming. Hilarious.
It seems like there’s a little bit of Charlie Bennett in Tracy Morgan’s act too….
My personal favorite old comic ads are the ones with hostess pies, in which Captain America stops the Red Skull by giving all his Nazi henchmen twinkies and what not….

I totally agree with Joel that a man’s looks matter less to women looking to get laid in their thirties. I’m surprised this caught Corey so off guard. Isn’t there a joke that goes women are like dog poop because the older they get the easier they are to pick up? How did you guys not know that one!
Hey Joel it gets real old saying you have no listeners. It’s insulting to the listeners you do have but I don’t even care about that. It’s just such an amateur thing to complain about. Every podcaster says it so much that it’s the oldest, lamest, tiredest podcast schtick out there.
One funny part about this show was when you guys were all giggling trying to imagine what it would be like to be in each other’s bodies. It was during the bit about the body switching movies. It was also gay as hell but it was pretty funny.
Your post-gathering shows are the best.
