Joel Radio #247: Goodnight, Funnyman
Aug 20th
Veteran comedian Bill Hildebrandt joins Joel as a comedy legend as passed – Kip Addotta has died at age 75. OK, who the fuck is Kip Addotta? That’s an understandable question, but among other things, he was Bill’s connection to playing in Las Vegas, he recorded a bunch of popular comedy songs, released albums and was a frequent talk show guest in the 1970s. Bill shares his memories of Kip, his act, and why Vegas isn’t the same as it used to be. Also, Joel reviews Impractical Jokers live, and Gilbert Gottfried gets his gift at the Gathering of the Juggalos. Plus, comedy at a movie theater? Find out where it’s happening, and it’s probably a good thing as the movies suck right now. Find out who didn’t make it to the end of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood! He missed a good ending, anyway.

We’d eulogize Kip Addotta, if he’d only lettuce. RIP Kip
Joel Radio #245: The Impossible Podcast
Jul 10th
This podcast had an orderly way of proceeding that was planned and prepared by Joel for your listening pleasure. Then Corey Hall decided to take a trip down podcasting memory lane and it went all wrong. The guys discuss the “old days” of podcasting in 2005, why some guys were more successful than others and Corey’s ideas for monetizing this show. Would you donate $5 to get some exclusive stuff from the guys? Let us know in the comments. Also, Joel went to an open mike with a decibel meter installed and it was a riot. How loud is not funny? Apparently any volume that night. Plus, gift shopping for Gilbert Gottfried, Corey eats an impossible burrito, Mad Magazine says goodbye, reviews of Stranger Things, Spider-Man: Far From Home, Aladdin, Euphoria on HBO and a full rundown of the Beatles-infused, sci-fi romance Yesterday. Includes a two-minute spoilercast ending, too!

Joel Radio #206: Killing in a Small Town
Nov 22nd
Comedian and comedy show producer, Frankenmuth Michigan’s own Melissa Hager joins the podcast to discuss her career, what she learned from Joel’s comedy class, what its like being from a small town and a lot more on this show. Melissa, who happily employed co-host Corey Hall for some shows, shares some of her secrets for success as well as telling a hilarious story about racial diversity which must be heard to be believed. Joel believes a lot of her success is due to applying big-city comedy production to small-town events unlike the multitude of “hell gigs” that have many comics, like Joel, very happy to leave the road forever. Melissa is a fun guest who, unlike Ted Moss, actually gets along with Corey! Despite that, you should listen to this show! Also, the Andy Kaufman/Jim Carrey documentary is a bloated DVD extra, while Gilbert Gottfried’s documentary is a masterpiece, Joel’s seen both and he will tell you why. Plus, Hot Cocoa Oreos reviewed, is Blake Shelton the sexiest redneck alive?, reviews of Lore on Amazon, Long Shot on Netflix, American Horror Story on FX and even more sexual harassment stories break – when will it end?

Joel Radio #132: Gathering With Gilbert
Jul 31st
It’s a huge honor for this podcast to get an exclusive interview with Gilbert Gottfried, a hero to both Joel and Corey who recently appeared at the 15th Annual Gathering of the Juggalos. Listen as Gilbert complains about his backstage accommodations, sings the Thicke of the Night theme song, and waxes nostalgic about old Hollywood – much in the way he does on his terrific new podcast. Joel inquires about Jerry Lewis impersonators, Scott Baio and Jimmy Fallon, all in a delightful 12-minute conversation captured for eternity here on Joel Radio. But the Gilbert coverage doesn’t stop there, as you’ll get Joel’s blow-by-blow account of the ensuing show which involved bong hits, AFLAC ducks, and the Aristocrats. Listen for Joel’s personal highlight as the Juggalos chant “Fuck David Susskind!” to the delight of Gilbert himself – just one of many incredibly surreal and weird moments from a very memorable evening in Thornville, Ohio. Also, Joel’s new appreciation of Gilbert’s genius, the various levels his comedy works on, and why Penn Jillette is correct in calling Gilbert the Miles Davis of comedy. Plus, Jesse Ventura is both an idiot and an asshole, Guardians of the Galaxy is very good, and Let’s Be Cops is not. All that and Joel’s hilarious “big announcement” to end a really fun, funny show.

The movie referenced by Gilbert – now playing in your nightmare, or on YouTube………
Joel Radio #130: Approved by Trick-Trick
Jun 27th
There’s a full plate of nonsense on this episode, highlighted by a Joel Radio investigation into the recent hip-hop feud between Rick Ross and Detroit’s own Trick-Trick. Since Joel and Corey can’t make any sense of what went down, the call in the help of the help of their friends in the hip hop community. And since those guys don’t answer they end up calling their old sports reporter buddy Chill who is amazingly helpful considering he’s from the mean streets of Westland. The whole thing strikes the guys as ridiculous, but not before Joel starts claiming turf in the comedy scene and adopting his own rap moniker – Joke-Joke. Also, the guys get World Cup fever but that will clear up, Gilbert Gottfried gets a podcast but Joel can’t take it, and The Transformers get a new movie and Corey can’t stand that either. Plus, Joel explains the story of “The Beatle Who Vanished” including a musical trip back to the ’60s before the guys get nostalgic for their own youth and tell the sure-fire way to tell the difference between the ’90s music that was great and ’90s music that sucked.

Joel Radio #118: The Middle School Dance
Dec 14th
They say “If you can remember the ’80s, you weren’t there”. Actually, they say that about the ’60s. No matter, as guest John Tenney remembers the ’80s and tried to bring back some of that feeling to a recently middle school dance where he was the DJ. As you’ll hear, John’s choice of ’80s dance-floor filler flopped with the kids – but the teachers loved it! Hear Joel, John and Corey’s memories of the dances of their youth and hear the songs to which the podcasting stars of the future would touch their first tits. Also, Bruce Springsteen tells dirty jokes for charity and he might have been drunk! Listen for yourself and decide. Plus, Corey hangs with Gilbert Gottfried and talks SNL (of the 80s!), Panda cookies are delicious, The Hobbit should go back in his hole, and much much more on this fun, nostalgic episode of Joel Radio.
