Joel Radio #120: T.V. O.D.
Jan 10th
Joel Radio kicks off 2014 with it’s annual in-depth look at the state of television. While it’s not so much the best and worst lists – though Joel and Corey have those – it’s more a look at the state of television today, the different way people are viewing it, the audience’s expectation of TV in 2014 and where it’s going. Don’t worry – there’s dick jokes, too! The guys breakdown the best late-night shows segment-by-segment to see who has the best monologue, interviews, bits, musical guests, etc. There’s true winners and losers, too. Sorry, Jimmy Fallon. Also, a look at the original series on streaming services like Hulu, Netflix and Amazon. The guys will tell you the best and the worst, including one with a Bill Murray cameo! Plus, Joel tells you what’s wrong with sketch shows and which one gets it right, Corey can’t say Breaking Bad is bad, and Joel discovers the new American minority that’s ripe for reality TV exploitation – sorry Cajuns! A two-hour powerhouse show. Listen before you watch!

Joel Radio #119: Assholes of the Year 2013
Dec 23rd
It’s time for everybody’s favorite show – the Assholes of the Year for 2013! This podcast’s annual celebration of villiany, bad behavior and self-serving dickery as selected by your hosts, Joel Fragomeni and Corey Hall. It’s quite a list, too, filled with sleazy politicians, money-hungry CEOs, idiotic actors and even a few “regular” people! Anyone can be a giant asshole! While the choices aren’t necessarily unanimous among the hosts – and you probably won’t agree with all of them – there’s a lot of passion on display here. And it’s not just a list of names, you’ll hear exactly which dirty deeds were done in 2013 and how that could affect the your choice of people to vote for, the place you choose to eat dinner, or the celebrity who’s latest movie or TV show you might choose to watch. Of course, this show is done for laughs, and there’s plenty, but Joel and Corey would like to think you’ve got it in you to hate these people as much as they do. As the last show for 2013, it’s two plus hours of your favorite podcasters doing there favorite thing in the world – calling out assholes in the most asshole-y way possible. A perfect end to 2013. Listen and enjoy.

Actually, not everybody pictured was chosen as a top 10 asshole, but you’ll have to listen to find out who was! No spoilers!
Joel Radio #99: Fill That Hard Drive
Jan 10th
It should have been a wonderful return for 2013, but somehow Joel screwed up the recording of this podcast. It’s not all bad though, just a few minutes lost from near the end. But every dated reference and bad pun that was lost is sure to infuriate Corey Hall, whose tales of snack foods past must be heard in their entirety. Or guest Rob Rose, who shares his thoughts on TV and the assholes of 2012 that featured on the last two shows. Still, you’ll hear about more plans for Yellowknife, the movie Joel doesn’t like that movie as much as he’s supposed to, Joe Biden and Brent Musburger getting pervy, and the new low for celebrity reality TV. Plus, the Douchebag Hotline get its a new name, how Michael Strahan is almost impossibly worse than Regis Philbin, and let’s all go to Ghana (they’re paying). Joel’s New Year’s resolution: always record a backup of the show!

Joel Radio #98: The Best and Worst of TV 2012
Dec 28th
Part two of Joel and Corey’s 2012 recap shows brings you the guys’ choices for the best and worst shows of 2012. While there’s some overlap with what they liked last year, there’s a whole new crop of stuff to hate – hillbillies! – and their agreement on this year’s lists was shocking even to them. Exhibit A: the best show of the year was unanimous, and even that show has its haters among the general public. But listen on as the guys pick the premium cable powerhouses, reality stupidity, documentaries and animated shows that kept their cable bills as bloated as their waistlines in 2012. Also, find out what channel Joel wants completely removed from our line-ups and which HBO show Corey would like to see under water. Plus, Joel finally comes around on Top Gear, Corey still has love for Mad Men, and how Shark Tank can increase its ratings by replacing the 55-year-old woman with the 40-year-old one.

Joel Radio #95: Like Two Ladies
Nov 15th
You’d think the garbage that is morning radio would have stayed there. But no, some genius came up with the idea for a TV show called Dish Nation. This involves some of America’s “funniest” morning show teams cracking wise on the celebrity news of the day. As you can imagine, it’s awful. And the worst of it is Scott Shannon and Todd Pettengill, from WPLJ in New York. If their lame shtick wasn’t bad enough, they look like Siegfried and Roy after a trip to the cosmetics counter. Listen as Joel and Corey playback a recent episode of Dish Nation and comment on Scott, Todd, the ridiculous black show from Atlanta, the breakdown of ages and predefined roles of the hosts, and everything else that makes it so awful. Plus, thoughts on the recent election as Corey gloats and Joel is waiting hours at the polls – another example of how the government isn’t working. Also, Corey loves a sausage, Chicago-style pizza should stay in Chicago, and Joel’s knowledge of TV anchor babes is put on public display.

Joel Radio #85: Stuffing the Ballot Box
May 31st
Back on episode #69 the guys tried to decide which of the new fall TV shows would be hits. A point system was assigned and predictions were made. Now the results are in, and comedian Matt McClowry rejoins Corey and Joel for the big reveal. Who is the big winner? Which shows were the surprise hits? Which were the unsurprising flops? Listen and find out! Also, Matt details his latest comedy travels, including some prestigious festivals, and an upcoming headline date. He also tells you his favorite new city for comedy, but don’t go to the bar across the street – unless you’re into that kind of thing. Plus, a local comedy poll drives Corey nuts, Joel doesn’t know how many shows he’s done, Martin from Bay City likes crappy music, and a Men in Black 3 review that’s every bit as lackluster as the actual film.

Joel Radio #76: The Best and Worst of TV 2011
Jan 6th
It’s now 2012, but Joel and Corey have no problem living in the past. Hence, a re-cap of the best and worst programming that illuminated the boob tube in 2011. The lists are really dissimilar too, as the guys only agreed that one comedy show was worthy of both of their Top 10s. Joel’s list is more premium-cable heavy, while Corey leans towards more eclectic basic cable fare, including a show that was recently resurrected after being cancelled more than a decade ago. The worst shows include lots of housewives, cooking, news pundits, hoggers, loggers, and, more than anything else, two obnoxious women who are financially challenged. Plus, Corey preps for his off off Broadway debut in the one-man show, The Vic Tayback Experience.

Joel Radio #71: No Kindle for Corey
Oct 29th
As technology moves forward, some move with it and some stay behind. On this show we have Joel embracing the convenience and simplicity of the new Kindle e-reader, and Corey Hall bemoaning the loss of the smell of paper and minimum wage bookstore jobs. Joel thinks Corey would want a Kindle if he tried it, but there’s no budging internet radio’s #1 curmudgeon (we don’t see Andy Rooney going the podcast route anytime soon). Hear the debate, Joel’s less-than-highbrow reading list, and decide for yourself. Also, the phoniness of reality TV revealed – we’re lookin’ at you Pawn Stars! – from a practical perspective, including Joel’s own experiences on a similar show. Plus, the continual outrage over the new Family Feud, the asshole animal lover from Ohio, Detroit’s best tourist attractions, guys hate Karaoke, and Corey’s movie suggestion almost ruins Joel’s love life.

Joel Radio #69: From The Mind of Mario Lopez
Sep 15th
You think there’s be some cheap joke for show #69, but there isn’t. In fact, there’s some serious business to take care of on this show, namely previewing the new fall TV season. In fact, they’ve created a game out of it, and you can play along. Like comedian, Matt McClowry, who joins the show to add his insights, handicap the favorites and stare blankly into space. Actually, Matt’s a hilarious comic and there’s of material in this year’s crop of new shows, like time-traveling plus dinosaurs on Terra Nova, the dumbest reality concept ever in H8R, and the horror of NBC’s shove-it-down-your-throat new sitcom, Whitney. The guys make their predictions on which is the first show to get the axe, which ones return for 2012, and one that Joel thinks will still be in on 2045. Plus, a summer super hero movie summary, of which Matt only saw one!
