Joel Radio #163: Assholes of the Year 2015
Dec 30th
The annual year-end parade of scum and villainy has returned with Joel Radio’s Assholes of the Year countdown for 2015. Joel and Corey Hall select the worst people of the year from idiot politicians to greedy pharmaceutical executives to race-baiters to bullies. The lists were hard to make this year, too. Which Republican Presidential candidate to choose? Which obnoxious sports star? From singers, to movie directors to late-night talk show hosts, the guys have it covered this year. There was a lot of assholery to go around in 2015, so listen to this show, or you might be the asshole of the year for 2016.

Believe it or not, there’s one person who wasn’t picked as an Asshole of the Year!
Joel Radio #162: Star Wars: The Force Awakens Review
Dec 18th
Joel Radio is the first(?) podcast to have a complete review of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. In fact, it’s so complete it’s almost as long as the movie! Don’t worry – there are NO SPOILERS – for 20 minutes anyway, and then there’s a METRIC TON OF SPOILERS after that, so maybe listen to a little before and the rest after seeing the movie. Joel and Corey Hall compare the actual film to last show’s hopes about it, break down what works and what doesn’t, describe the nerdy scene at the theater, and generally whoop and holler about all things Star Wars in a post-George Lucas universe. Also, find out the characters that don’t work at all and why one character’s weight gain is especially hilarious – it’s not who you think! Whether you loved or hated the movie, there’s something for you on this show, and its eventual sequels.

Joel can’t bear the sight of the nerds in the Star Wars line – and we’re pretty sure that’s just a bathrobe
Joel Radio #142: Assholes of the Year 2014
Dec 22nd
The holiday tradition continues with the annual Assholes of the Year show for 2014. Joel and Corey Hall list the biggest hypocrites, liars, jerks and evil-doers of the year. These are diverse lists from the world of politics, entertainment, sports and wherever one could excel at assholery. From the ebola scare to Korean hacking to criminal cover-ups, there’s been a lot of bad behavior this year and it’s all exposed by Joel and Corey. You may not agree with all the picks, and Joel is especially nervous that some will disagree with his top pick, but there’s a little something for everyone on this show. Find out which pick that Corey has actually met in real life, who Joel actually likes but is still an asshole, and who is really responsible for the Sony/North Korea/The Interview hacking scandal. It’s a really funny show, except when it isn’t! There’s real debate and real emotion, so fire up the yule log and be glad you’re not them – here’s to an asshole-free 2015!

Joel Radio #119: Assholes of the Year 2013
Dec 23rd
It’s time for everybody’s favorite show – the Assholes of the Year for 2013! This podcast’s annual celebration of villiany, bad behavior and self-serving dickery as selected by your hosts, Joel Fragomeni and Corey Hall. It’s quite a list, too, filled with sleazy politicians, money-hungry CEOs, idiotic actors and even a few “regular” people! Anyone can be a giant asshole! While the choices aren’t necessarily unanimous among the hosts – and you probably won’t agree with all of them – there’s a lot of passion on display here. And it’s not just a list of names, you’ll hear exactly which dirty deeds were done in 2013 and how that could affect the your choice of people to vote for, the place you choose to eat dinner, or the celebrity who’s latest movie or TV show you might choose to watch. Of course, this show is done for laughs, and there’s plenty, but Joel and Corey would like to think you’ve got it in you to hate these people as much as they do. As the last show for 2013, it’s two plus hours of your favorite podcasters doing there favorite thing in the world – calling out assholes in the most asshole-y way possible. A perfect end to 2013. Listen and enjoy.

Actually, not everybody pictured was chosen as a top 10 asshole, but you’ll have to listen to find out who was! No spoilers!
Joel Radio #112: Cereal for Girls
Aug 22nd
Men and women are different. It’s a comedy premise as old as time. That doesn’t stop Joel and Corey Hall from discussing how when it comes to breakfast, men are the superior gender with Count Choculas and Sugar Crisps besting Kashi and Puffins any day of the week. Of course, this topic was brought on by a new experimental Oreo flavor, Birthday Cake, which is an apt description because women would only publicly eat a tiny bit of these cookies publicly, before consuming the rest of them in private. Actually they’re pretty bad for either gender and neither of the guys feels like consuming too many. Also, hear how about Joel’s terrifying studio infestation and how he dealt with it, a Gathering of the Juggalos recap that involves some famous comics a lot of weed, and fallen pro wrestling hero who needs your help. Plus, Werner Herzog makes some great documentaries and Joel’s recommendation makes the famous director’s voice appear magically throughout the rest of the show.

Joel Radio #88: Three Guys vs. Five Guys
Jul 16th
Joel Radio welcomes the return of both Corey Hall, and after a longer delay former show announcer Rob Rose. They picked a great time to come back, as Joel tells one of the wildest, funniest road stories ever. It’s so shocking Corey can’t believe Joel told it – and that’s really saying something. What’s it about? We’re not saying, but let’s just say listen to the show before you run out to grab lunch, ok? Also on this show, Corey takes a steamy RV trip of his own, the latest from the Douchebag Hotline, Joel apologizes for Harry’s last appearance – and Harry checks in to defend himself. Plus, Corey on Spider-Man, Rob on Savages, and minor league soccer drives Detroit’s hipsters wild. This is an all-time great show! listen and enjoy!

Joel Radio #87: Prepare For The Worst
Jun 29th
Harry Artin (or whatever he’s calling himself these days) ruined this episode of Joel Radio. He wasn’t alone in this, as Corey Hall wasn’t there – his reason should make for a funny story whenever we get it – but most of the blame goes to Joel himself. Joel believed he could center the show around Harry’s hard luck stories of show business failure. He was doing pretty good with this theory until Harry got a phone call (apparently from a big-deal connection to his newest endeavor), got up and left the studio! Despite his saying it would be five minutes, Harry never returned! And Corey, who promised a review of the new Spider-Man movie, never checked in on the phone! Joel was left all alone, not having prepared for a solo show. Still, Joel got to do his top movies of 2012 (so far), gave a review to the surprisingly funny Ted, ran down a list of what worked in recent TV, and generally acted confused, unprepared and irritated. Still, some of you may be happy that you got less Harry than was planned! So to you guys, you’re welcome – and to everyone else – we’re sorry. We’re really, really sorry.

Joel Radio #81: Hey Newton, F You
Mar 23rd
With apologies for the last show (even though some of you enjoyed it), Joel and Corey Hall return. Speaking of crap, Corey gives an in-depth review/hatefuck to John Carter – a new film that proves that 100 years is too long for fans to wait for a film adaptation. Also, Joel dislikes some recent home video releases including one of Corey’s faves from 2011. It’s not all bad though, as the guys both love Jeff, Who Lives at Home, a film that cost less than one CGI Martian from John Carter, and is showing in about 1/10th of the theaters – thanks, Hollywood! Also, Joel deletes annoying Facebook friends while Corey doesn’t have the stones, our fans hate Harry Artin, and the slow death of stand-up comedy in Detroit. Plus, the prospects of The Hunger Games being a hit seem as high as Jennifer Lawrence’s tits.

Joel Radio #62: Too Long to Be Funny
May 26th
The title is not indicative of the quality of this show! Oh no, that’s a reference to the length of the recent comedy hit Bridesmaids, which at 126 minutes is way too long – funny or not (and it is!). This brings up the point of comedies being too long in general – thanks Mr. Apatow! Joined in this extended faux-radio show is frequent guest, John Tenney, of soon-to-be basic cable fame, and Corey Hall of, well, this show. Plus, The Macho Man is dead, but his insanity lives on, The Office is gone for the season and Corey is gone as a fan, and John lives a dream by working the comic book convention. Also, Corey sees The Hangover Part II. It sucks, apparently, but so does every comedy sequel – we think.

Joel Radio #57: Kirk Hit That
Mar 1st
Eschewing the normal Oscar pre-show predictions, Joel Fragomeni and Corey Hall return with a post-Oscars wrap-up. It was largely a snoozer, with first-time hosts actors James Franco and Anne Hathaway hosting and demonstrating a lack of experience, and an inability to tell a joke – who knew!?! But the night was saved, in the comedic sense, by 94-year-old Kirk Douglas, who hogged the mike, mumbled incoherently, and generally acted like drunken old Grandpa giving a Christmas toast. A highlight of 2011 that won’t soon be topped. Other low lights were Melissa Leo’s acceptance speech, Jennifer Hudson speaking a foreign language (English!), and Florence badly needing her Machine. Also, Corey goes nuclear – hilariously melting down during a character actor quiz & the best news anyone’s ever heard – unless you’re Oprah.
